Did you know - With a nose that’s 100 times more sensitive than ours, a bear can literally smell food five miles away!
Bears are very smart and have great memories - once they find food, they come back for more.
To keep the bears from getting into trouble, Arrowhead Public Safety has provided the following guidelines on how to Be Bear Aware – and deter any potential bear problems:All trash must be in Wildlife Resistant containers and only placed out on the day of pickup. Make sure latches are secure when putting trash cans out for pickup. *
All food sources, such as dog food and bird feeders, should be removed from outside of the home. While a bird feeder might be placed where a bear cannot reach it, the bird feeder will still attract bears to your home.
Close and lock doors into your home. Many bear invasions happen when homeowners leave doors open and the bears come through the screen to the home. Bears will paw at a door they want to go through, and lever door handles are an easy way for bears to open your door. Please lock them.
Close and lock lower windows into your home. Even small openings in a window can allow the bear to pull the window open.
Arrowhead Public Safety has a bear deterrent program and routinely patrols the community 24 hours a day looking for any potential bear problems. If you have questions or concerns, please contact Arrowhead Public Safety at 970-926-2588.
For more information on bears, visit the Colorado Parks and Wildlife website here.
*Please contact Vail Honeywagon at 970-476-3511 to obtain compliant trash and recycling containers. -

For snowshoeing, cross country skiing, walking the dog
Country Club of the Rockies (CCR) has prepared a wonderful Winter Recreation Trail on the golf course.
The trail is available for snowshoeing, cross country skiing and walking the dog. The CCR Golf Maintenance team will groom the trail as conditions allow. The grooming machine is not a snowcat and can't grind up old snow to create a smooth snow surface - Mother Nature has to provide fresh snow that can then be groomed. Keep doing your snow dance!
Homeowners and their guests may enjoy using the trail while following the rules listed below:Please stay on the trail and do not create your own trails across the golf course. It is extremely important to not pack down the snow on the fairways because it suffocates the turf and kills it. The trail is groomed in specific areas for this reason.
Don't walk on the cross country ski track portion of the trail.
ALWAYS pick up after your pet (This includes disposing of used doggie bags in a trash bin, not leaving full doggie bags on the side of the trail).
You are responsible for your pet's behavior.
Bikes of any kind are not allowed on the trail.
Please keep the trail clean for everyone's enjoyment.

For skinning or snowshoeing
Uphill access is an increasingly popular way to log miles, enjoy solitude in nature, and get invigorating exercise during the winter.
Uphill access is permitted in Arrowhead, Bachelor Gulch and Beaver Creek only on designated routes, from 30 minutes after the lifts close until 15 minutes before first chair. For both ascending and descending, an authorized designated route must be used.
Several factors (like snow safety, maintenance and operations, and seasonal considerations) affect route availability.
Always call the Uphill Access Trail Hotline before going out for the designated route schedule and use considerations. -
Open for the winter season through 4/05/2025
Vista serves dinner Monday - Saturday (closed on Sundays), 5:00pm - close.
Reservations are highly recommended. Please call Vista at 970-926-2111.

In 2024, the Arrowhead Metro District completed wildfire fuel reduction on an additional 223.5 acres of land surrounding Arrowhead with partners, Eagle Valley Wildland and the Eagle River Fire District. This was the goal for the year, and brings the total number of acres mitigated to 375 acres. To Arrowhead’s immediate west there are 140 remaining acres of land that the Metro District feels must be mitigated for wildfires by dramatically reducing fuel loads, and they are committed to finishing that piece in 2025. It is possible that the Edwards Metro District and the Homestead Homeowners Association may participate financially in that last remaining piece, but rest assured that the work will be supported by the Arrowhead Metro District whether they do or not.
